The single most important criteria when buying any TV is its picture quality and the H7000 excels in this department. It has the ability to produce a deep shade of black which in-turn generates a strong contrast performance. The Micro Dimming pro feature that divides the image into smaller segments improves contrast and generates highly defined images. The color saturation performance that determines how vivid or intense the colors appears on TV ensure images are rendered accurately with appropriate realism and depth.
Despite its slim frame the audio quality of the UA55H7000AR is solid. It does not suffer from a lack of bass as many slim TV’s do. The 40 W speakers provide satisfactory sound that allows for a pleasant viewing experience. For a complete and authentic cinematic experience or if you are a music aficionado, you may want to invest in more sophisticated speakers. For regular viewing though, the in-built speakers do the job well.
Video processing is pretty good too with HDTV and standard definition content looking excellent.
As with most high end Samsungs, the H7000 has specific modes to appeal to movie and sports enthusiasts and gamers. Serious gamers will need to activate the Game mode to get the most out of the display as latency can be an issue in regular settings. The settings for the Movie mode seem to be fairly accurate out of the box. Display quality across all modes deteriorates at higher viewing angles as with most LED TV’s, but for the price you pay we expected better. In the grand scheme of things though, this is a minor flaw in an otherwise top-notch display.
There is a little loss of picture quality when viewing 3D content as compared to 2D but that is to be expected. Overall 3D content looked better than we anticipated with marginal ghosting and flickering seen in our tests.
Input and Output
The H7000 has numerous connectivity options that will allow a consumer to make this TV the centerpiece of your multimedia entertainment. The UA55H7000AR comes equipped with 4 HDMI ports, 3 USB ports, wired and wireless ethernet, audio jacks, composite and component ports. You are thus able to stream content from your mobile devices and internet with relative ease.
The UAH7000AR by all accounts is an attractive TV. The minimalist linear design and the ultra-thin bezel frame make sure that focus of the viewer is solely on the screen. The U-Stand on which the TV sits is also slim and does not swivel. The panel itself is very narrow – an impressive 33mm which makes it an excellent candidate for wall mounting if you so desire.
The attention to detail on design continues when the H7000 is switched on as well. The “instant on” button on the Smart Touch remote allows the TV to start almost instantaneously. Motion control based voice and gesture command used to manipulate the TV are nifty feature but worked with a few hiccups. Please be aware that there is small learning curve involved to be able to use these. The Smart TV interface itself is fairly user friendly and intuitive. Navigating between apps is seamless and quick.
The UA55H7000AR has a lot going for it – sleek, modern design; exquisite picture quality and video; decent audio performance and a clean and intuitive smart TV interface. If you are in the market for a high end flat panel full HD LED TV that provides an exquisite viewing experience and comes with all the latest bells and whistles that technology can offer, you will not be disappointed if you go for the H7000AR.
