    Acid-Insoluble Ash

    Acid-insoluble ash indicates the presence of sand, dirt and dust in food products. As per FSS Regulations, ash insoluble in dilute hydrochloric acid (on dry basis) should not be more than 0.1 per cent in pasta. So, lower is better for consumers.

    • It was found lowest in Weikfield and Borges (0.002 per cent) and highest in Del Monte (0.047 per cent).

    Lead

    Lead is a highly toxic metal and a very strong poison. Lead poisoning is a serious and sometimes fatal condition.
