Kaff Ray 60 60 cm Chimney & Hood Review
Review of Kaff 60 cm Ray 60
|Type||Wall Mounted - Hood/ Canopy|
Wall Mounted - Hood/ Canopy: They are the most common hoods. They are fixed onto the wall and the hood or canopy hangs above the stove to catch fumes. It comes in various styles and designs.
There are two types of outlets
|Air Suction Capacity||1000 m3/h|
Air Suction Capacity is the motor’s capacity to absorb the odor and oily vapor and is measured as m3 per hour. A higher suction capacity is needed where a lot of frying is involved. Homes associated with normal frying requires upto 400 cubic meter per hour capacity's chimney.
The hood or canopy size depends on the size of the kitchen. Normally a 2 to 4 burner stove/ hob requires a 2 ft chimney whereas a 3 to 5 burner require a 3 ft one. But to absorb maximum fumes or smoke, a chimney should cover the entire gas stove otherwise the heat, smoke or fumes will move out of the canopy area and cannot solve the desired purpose of a chimney.

Kitchen chimneys or cook top hoods are fast becoming a staple of Indian kitchens due to their ability to eliminate undesirable and stale cooking odors that can linger long after a delightful meal has been cooked, served and consumed. With a plethora of chimney and hood companies in the market today touting their wares, consumers often find it difficult to decide which one to buy. Today we review the Kaff 60 cm Ray 60 chimney, a popular chimney model.
The Kaff 60 cm Ray 60 chimney is a wall mounted stainless steel chimney with dimensions of 50 cm x 60 cms with an adequately long hood height of 100 cms. The chimney comes equipped with 3 speed levels that can be varied based on the kind of cooking that is being done and two 40 watt lamps. It uses an anodized aluminum air filter that is washable and has suction capacity of 900 m3/ hr and a noise level rating of 59 db.
The Kaff Ray 60 chimney performs well in a small to medium sized kitchen with stoves or cooking hobs having 2-4 burners. We found that it was quickly able to eliminate steam generated by a pressure cooker on a high flame indicating reasonably good suction. It's ability to eliminate grease and smells generated while frying pakoras is adequate though not as good as its ability to eliminate steam. While not as noisy as many hoods, the Kaff 60 cm Ray 60 chimney still generates some noise that will take getting used to. A rated noise level of 59 db is still at the lower end when compared to many hoods and is decent for the chimney's price range. The only real downside that we see with the Kaff Ray 60 is the maintenance required to clean the filters. Since the chimney has a mesh filter, the holes on the filter may be clogged if not cleaned regularly.
Attractive looks, good performance and an economical price based on deals available on some online stores makes the Kaff Ray 60 chimney a good buy for a medium sized kitchen with a small to medium size stove. Regular cleaning of the filter should take care of the only real downside that we could see with this chimney.
